South Africa and Afghanistan will play T20 World Cup warm-up match on Monday.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma on Thursday (October 14) revealed that his injured hand is “improving by the day” and he is hoping to pass a fitness test to play in the warm-up match against Afghanistan on Monday (October 18) ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Bavuma is currently recovering from a broken thumb that he injured during the white-ball series in Sri Lanka last month. However, Temba’s injured hand is showing improvement and he will take part in his first live net on Friday (October 15) ahead of the T20 World Cup warm-up match against Afghanistan.
As reported by ESPNCricinfo, Bavuma said: “My hand is definitely improved by the day. It's getting stronger and a lot more comfortable. Tomorrow will be the first time I am having a live net, facing bowlers.”

The Proteas skipper added, “I’m looking forward to that and that will give me a better indication of how far I've progressed. At the moment, everything is still on track. I am looking to play in warm-up games. I am feeling good.”
The 31-year-old batter also said he is hoping to open the batting along with Quinton de Kock for South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2021, starting on October 17 in Oman and the UAE.
He signed off by saying, “My role is quite obvious and clear. I am someone to come in at the top, and if there is an opportunity to come in at No. 3, I will fill in that spot.”
