Sri Lanka and India will play the first ODI on Friday, August 2 in Colombo.
Team India veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had their first training nets session under the guidance of new head coach Gautam Gambhir in Colombo on Wednesday. The three-match ODI series will be played in Colombo and begins on August 2nd.
Although Rohit and Kohli were not originally supposed to be in India's ODI team against Sri Lanka, Gambhir insisted on their inclusion. Both Rohit and Kohli declared their retirement from T20Is following India's seven-run victory against South Africa in the T20 World Cup final on June 29.
Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team in the Sri Lanka ODIs which also sees return of Kuldeep Yadav and Shreyas Iyer in the squad. Alongside Riyan Parag, another player to get his maiden ODI call-up is fast bowler Harshit Rana.
Meanwhile, the BCCI shared a video of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma batting in the nets under the watchful eyes of Gautam Gambhir. Both Kohli and Rohit hit some big shots against the spinners and pacers alike and Gambhir admired their big shots that sailed a long way.

All three ODIs that are scheduled for 2, 4 and 7 August will be played in Colombo. With the T20 World Cup done and dusted, the focus now shifts to the ICC Champions Trophy that will take place in Pakistan early next year.
