Venkatesh Prasad played for India from 1994-2001.
Former India selector and coach Venkatesh Prasad selected his top five Indian cricketers on Sunday, leaving out modern-day greats Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, and Jasprit Bumrah.
Prasad disclosed his five favorites during an ask-me-anything (AMA) session on X (previously Twitter). Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Anil Kumble rounded out his top four, while Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, and Gundappa Vishwanath tied for fifth place.
Answering another question, Prasad named Kohli and Bumrah among the modern-day greats.
He was also asked about his favorite players in each format. He named Australia’s Travis Head for Tests, South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen for T20s and Kohli for ODIs.
Another user asked him who was the most exciting cricketer to watch currently and Venkatesh again named Travis Head.
Venkatesh Prasad played 33 Tests and 161 ODIs for India from 1994-2001 and played in the 1996 and 1999 World Cups for India. He was also the bowling coach of the Indian team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup.
