Rohit Sharma will lead India in the upcoming ODI World Cup at home.
Rohit holds quite a few world records to his name in white-ball cricket. He is the proud owner of the highest individual ODI score – 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. Moreover, he is the only batter in world cricket to have hit three ODI double tons and four Twenty20 international centuries.
Recently, South African pace legend Dale Steyn also acknowledged Rohit Sharma’s class as a batter while speaking to Star Sports.
“I always struggled to bowl against Rohit, he is a phenomenal batter, leading the team from the front,” Steyn said.
His comments came just a few days after Rohit labelled Steyn as the toughest bowler he has faced in his career.
“If a bowler who has ever challenged me and I enjoyed playing against him then I’ll have to say Dale Steyn. He is a class player, he got all the skills and I think this is the reason he doesn’t miss a bounce and can swing so fast. I think there are very less people who could swing 140+ and I think he was the one who could do it consistently,” said Rohit in an interaction with journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube Channel.
Fondly known as Hitman, Rohit Sharma is also known for his exceptional leadership skills. Under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians have won five IPL trophies while he led India to the Asia Cup title last month.
Rohit will also be leading the Indian side in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, slated to get underway on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
