"Had great conversation on sports", says Suresh Raina after meeting Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju

The Sports Minister also hailed Raina's efforts in promoting and supporting the youth in all sports.

India’s 2011 World Cup-winner and a three-time IPL champion, Suresh Raina, recently met Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju, and he was elated to have a great conversation on sports with him.

Raina, the former Indian middle-order batsman, has been out of action for now after he withdrew from the IPL 2020 in the United Arab Emirates due to personal reasons.

Well, the cricketer has been spending his time promoting cricket with different initiatives in the country including Jammu and Kashmir, and even promised to open 10 schools there as well as to give professional cricket training to the youths of the Union Territory.

On Thursday, October 29, Raina shared a picture of him with Rijiju from their meeting and said it is wonderful to know how the country making progress in all sports verticals while hailing Sports Minister’s cricketing journey in his post.

Raina tweeted: “It was wonderful meeting you @KirenRijiju Sir.. We had a great conversation on sports, and wonderful to know the progress our country in making in all sports verticals. Also loved his cricketing journey too ???? #kheloindia. Also loved his cricketing journey too,”

Meanwhile, Mr. Rijiju also retweeted Raina while praising the cricketer for his efforts in promoting and supporting the youth across all sports in the country.

The Minister wrote on Twitter: “It’s pleasure meeting @ImRaina and appreciates your efforts to promote and support our youth in all the sports.”

Noteworthy, Raina announced his retirement from international cricket in August, bring down the curtains on a 15-year career with 291 international appearances for India.
