Suresh Raina is reminiscing about India’s World Cup 2011 victory which came exactly nine years ago with a long and emotional caption.

Team India won their second ICC ODI World Cup trophy on April 2, 2011, after beating their neighbors Sri Lanka by 6 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Since then, the Indian side has come a long way and is one of the best teams in the world in all three formats at the moment.

In 2011, all the players chipped in with their invaluable contributions be it with the bat, or the ball or even in the field. One such member was Suresh Raina, who played just 4 matches in the tournament but the title victory would not be possible with him.

He contributed with a precious knock of 34 runs in the Quarter Final against Australia. He was a livewire in the field every game. Currently, as he just plays in the IPL, he reminisced the victory on Twitter.

He wrote, “Things end but memories last forever. Remembering the rush, excitement, thrill of it all, of the fantastic moments leading up to us lifting the world cup. Irreplaceable. Unforgettable. Thankful to have been a part of this iconic moment in the history of cricket. #worldcup2011
