Shreyas Iyer fell for 1 run in the IPL 2025 final.
Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh called Shreyas Iyer's dismissal as the Punjab Kings' captain in the IPL 2025 final a "criminal offence" and made fun of him for it.
In Tuesday's IPL 2025 finals at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets, finally ending an 18-year wait for the prized IPL trophy.
The moment that changed the course of the match for Punjab was Iyer's wicket. On a delivery from Romario Shepherd, wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma caught him for just one run in two balls.
Speaking on Shreyas Iyer's dismissal, Yograj Singh told ANI, "The shot which Shreyas Iyer played in the final was a criminal offence, according to me. Ashok Mankad informed me about this criminal offense, which falls under Section 302. He also told me that the repercussions of this is that you will be banned for two matches. What Shreyas did yesterday is not acceptable. There is no apology for that."
After opting to bowl, PBKS restricted RCB to a modest total despite Virat Kohli’s 43. Contributions from Patidar, Livingstone, and others took RCB to 190. PBKS’s chase was led by Shashank Singh’s unbeaten 61*, but tight spells from Bhuvneshwar and Krunal helped RCB defend the target. RCB won by six runs to claim their maiden IPL title, sparking jubilant celebrations led by Virat Kohli and his team.
Krunal Pandya won the Player of the Match in the IPL 2025 final for his 2/17.
