Delhi will now stage the second Test between India and West Indies from October 10 to 14.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is mulling over relocating the first Test between India and South Africa, scheduled to be played in November this year, from Delhi due to pollution, TOI reported on Wednesday (June 4).
According to the report, the Indian board has shifted the aforementioned fixture to Eden Gardens in Kolkata, while the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will now stage the second Test between India and West Indies from October 10 to 14.
This move comes with the aim to prevent players from getting affected by unfavorable air quality in the national capital during November.
"The Arun Jaitley Delhi will now hold the second Test between India and West Indies between Oct 10-14, which was originally supposed to be held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Kolkata, meanwhile, will now hold the first Test between India and South Africa from Nov 14-18,” TOI quoted a reliable source within the BCCI as saying.
“This has been done to avoid the players from being affected by possibly high pollution levels at that time of the year. The BCCI prioritises the welfare and well-being of the players and their health at all times. A formal announcement regarding this will be made in the next couple of days.”
Nearly two months ago, the BCCI announced the schedule for Team India (Senior Men) international home season for 2025.
Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will host the first India-West Indies Test from October 2 to 6, and Delhi will stage the second match (official confirmation awaited).
Following the West Indies series, India will host South Africa in two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is.
Kolkata will host the series opener (official confirmation awaited), and the second red-ball match will take place in Guwahati from November 22 to 26.
The three ODIs will be plated in Ranchi, Raipur and Visakhapatnam on November 30, December 3 and December 6, respectively, whereas Cuttack, Mullanpur, Dharamsala, Lucknow and Ahmedabad will host T20Is on December 9, 11, 14, 17 and 19, respectively.
