SRH posted the highest-ever score in IPL history- 277/3.
Hardik Pandya, the MI captain won the toss and chose to bowl first. However, his decision came back to haunt the team dearly as SRH batters went on a run spree.
Travis Head, playing his first game for SRH, hammered 62 in 24 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes, and Abhishek Sharma made 63 in 23 balls with 3 fours and 7 sixes. After they fell, it seemed that MI would get a chance to breathe, but Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen added 116* runs for the 4th wicket in just 9 overs.
Markram made 42* in 28 balls with 2 fours and 1 six, while Klaasen took MI bowlers to the cleaners with 80* in 34 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes.
For MI, IPL debutant Kwena Maphaka went for 66 runs in his 4 overs, while Jasprit Bumrah went for only 36 runs in the carnage.
Ever since Hardik Pandya has taken over the captaincy of Mumbai Indians, every minute thing he does on the field is seen with scrutiny. Recently, in his MI captaincy debut against GT, Hardik Pandya was seen in a viral clip, ordering former captain Rohit Sharma to go and field at the boundary.
Rohit usually fields inside the ring and looked absolutely shocked at Hardik Pandya.
But during the carnage that was ensued by SRH batters, everything seemed lost and Rohit Sharma was seen n setting the field. And on one occasion, he asked Hardik Pandya to field near the boundary as well. Pandya was seen asking Rohit Sharma about where to go before running towards the boundary.
