Rohit became only the third player to make 200 IPL appearances for a single franchise.
Ahead of the momentous game, Rohit was presented with a special memento by none other than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
Rohit, who joined MI back in 2011, is the most successful captain in the league’s history alongside MS Dhoni. He led the franchise to five IPL titles in his 11-year stint as skipper.
Before the toss, MI players got into a huddle and it was then Tendulkar presented Rohit with a custom-made jersey with number 200 written behind it.
"A special moment to mark a landmark occasion. Rohit Sharma is presented with a special commemorative jersey by none other than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar on the occasion of his 200th IPL Match for @mipaltan," the official account of IPL tweeted.
In a video uploaded by the Mumbai Indians, Tendulkar said: "Long time ago, I was having a discussion with Mrs. Ambani that we have to bring Rohit to Mumbai Indians."
Rohit Sharma became only the third player to make 200 IPL appearances for a single franchise after Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Interestingly, the game against SRH is Rohit's 245th, which makes him the second most-capped player after Dhoni.
Rohit is the all-time leading run scorer for MI in the IPL, scoring over 5000 runs. Overall, he has 6254 runs to his name from 239 IPL innings, including one hundred and 42 half-centuries.
