Coincidentally, both experienced batters led their teams in scoring. However, Shikhar Dhawan's performance was in vain as Virat Kohli led RCB to a thrilling four-wicket victory over the Punjab-based team. RCB's first win of the season came against PBKS, who suffered their first defeat in IPL 2024.

After the game, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan shared a wonderful and emotional moment. The former India captain was spotted hugging and consoling the PBKS captain before the two began laughing with each other.
While the exact reason for Kohli's encouragement to Dhawan is unknown, many feel it is because the latter is unable to see his son. Dhawan's son resides in Australia with his ex-wife, Ayesha Mukherjee. In October of last year, a Delhi court granted divorce to the Indian batter.
On the other hand, Kohli and Anushka Sharma welcomed his second child in February, a boy whom they named Akaay.
