Delhi Capitals chased down Punjab Kings' 195/4 with 10 balls to spare.
Asked to bat first, PBKS piled up a massive 195/4 in 20 overs on the back of half-centuries from Mayank Agarwal (69 off 36 balls) and KL Rahul (61 off 51 balls). Deepak Hooda also played an unbeaten cameo of 13-ball 22.
Amid the carnage, R Ashwin (0-28) and Avesh Khan (1-33) managed to return with impressive bowling figures for the Capitals.
In reply, DC got off to a flying start as the duo of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan added 59 runs for the opening wicket. Arshdeep Singh broke the partnership by removing Shaw on 17-ball 32 but Dhawan held the one end firmly.
The southpaw shared a 45-run stand for the third wicket with skipper Rishabh Pant. In the process, Dhawan also slammed his second fifty of this season in three innings.
Jhye Richardson got rid of Dhawan in the 15th over but not before the left-hander smashed 92 off 49 deliveries, including 13 fours and 2 sixes.
After Dhawan’s dismissal, Marcus Stoinis stepped up to the occasion, hitting 27 not out off 13 balls (3 fours and 1 six) to take Delhi over the line with 6 wickets and 10 balls to spare.
For his stunning display with the bat, Shikhar Dhawan garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
