Rohit achieved the milestone against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Chepauk when he pulled a short delivery from Bhuvneshwar Kumar over deep mid-wicket for a maximum.
The MI captain now has 217 sixes to his name in the IPL while Dhoni has 216 maximums under his belt.
Earlier this week, Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) Chris Gayle became the first batsman to smash 350 sixes in the lucrative tournament. RCB’s AB de Villiers occupies the second spot with 237 sixes in the IPL.
Coming to the match, Rohit provided MI with a brilliant start after winning the toss against SRH. He put on 55 runs for the opening wicket with Quinton de Kock.
Rohit was dismissed by Vijay Shankar for 32 off 25 balls. His knock was studded with 2 fours and as many sixes.
