Sams and Padikkal tested positive before joining the RCB bubble.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Daniel Sams has joined the team bubble in Chennai on Saturday (April 17) after returning negative results twice for COVID-19.
The Australian had tested negative for the coronavirus on arrival at the team hotel but then tested positive in his second test. He has since been in quarantine, away from the team members who are in a bio-secure bubble.
"Sams had tested positive for the coronavirus before the start of the season. RCB had said the Australian had tested negative on arrival at the team hotel but tested positive in his second test for the virus.
Daniel Sams is out of quarantine and has joined the RCB bio-bubble today with two consecutive negative reports for COVID-19. RCB medical team was in constant touch with Sams and has declared him fit to join the team after adhering to all the BCCI protocols." RCB said in a statement on Saturday.
Sams was the second RCB team member to test positive for COVID-19, after opener Devdutt Padikkal, who featured in the team's second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
RCB is the only side to be unbeaten after their first two games in the tournament. The Virat Kohli-led side will take on Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.
