Just like any IPL playing XI, Gavaskar went with the composition of four overseas and seven Indians cricketers.

Gavaskar picked CSK skipper MS Dhoni as the leader of the star-studded line-up, which includes Chris Gayle, David Warner, AB de Villiers and Sunil Narine as four foreign players.

Among other Indians, Rohit Sharma was selected to open the innings alongside Gayle. Warner was slotted to bat at No. 3 followed by Virat Kohli, De Villiers, Suresh Raina and Dhoni.

Spinning all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also features in Gavaskar’s all-time IPL XI while off-spinner Narine and the Indian pace duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah form the bowling attack.

Speaking on Star Sports, Gavaskar picked his team in which IPL’s leading wicket-taker – Lasith Malinga (170 scalps) – is the 12th man.

“I’m sorry if I missed out any players, I’ve never been a selector in my life and I now understand how hard it is to pick a team,” Gavaskar said after picking the team.
