MI chased down KKR's target of 149 with 19 balls to spare.
Opting to bat first, KKR posted 148/5 in 20 overs on the back of Pat Cummins’ unbeaten 36-ball 53 and new skipper Eoin Morgan’s 39 not out off 29 balls.
For MI, Rahul Chahar was the stand-out bowler, claiming 2 wickets by conceding only 18 runs in his four overs. Jasprit Bumrah (1-22) was also economical with the ball and picked up the prized scalp of Andre Russell.
In reply, the defending champions got off to a fantastic start as the duo of Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma added 94 runs for the opening wicket.
Although Rohit was dismissed for 36-ball 35 in the 11th over and Suryakumar Yadav (10) also got out cheaply, De Kock (78* off 44 balls) held the one end firmly and shared an unbroken 38-run stand with Hardik Pandya (21* off 11 balls) to take the team over the line with 8 wickets in hand and 19 balls to spare.
Cricket experts were mighty impressed with MI’s clinical performance in all departments against the Eoin Morgan-led KKR side.
