Rohit's banter with Erasmus left the commentators his splits.
In reply to India’s first innings score of 396, the visitors were 114/1 in the 23rd over with opener Zak Crawley going great guns in the post-lunch session.
However, Akshar Patel’s dismissal of Crawley (76 off 78 balls) triggered a mini-collapse. Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Joe Root (5) and Ollie Pope (23) in quick succession to reduce England to 136/4.
After pushing the tourists on the backfoot, the Indian captain was in a bit of a dilemma on whether to take a review after a Bumrah yorker hit Jonny Bairstow on his pads.
Rohit consulted with wicketkeeper KS Bharat, who was not confident enough to tell his skipper to opt for the review. Bumrah too was not quite sure and it was then Rohit hilariously asked umpire Marais Erasmus about his thoughts.
"Marais, what do you think?" Rohit was heard saying on the stump mic.
In the end, Rohit Sharma decided against taking the review. Later on, the ball-tracking technology also confirmed that the ball was just sliding down leg.
Coming to the match, England slumped to 173/6 in 39 overs at the time of writing this article. Bairstow was eventually dismissed by Bumrah for 25 in the third session while Kuldeep Yadav got the wicket of Ben Foakes (6) to leave the visitors in a spot of bother.
