Rishabh Pant hugged Virat Kohli in aftermath to apologize, while Rohit had his hands on his head.
Virat Kohli received a lifeline thanks to a major gaffe by Khaled Ahmed on day 4 of the ongoing second Test between India and Bangladesh. The game got underway after two full days were abandoned due to rain and a wet outfield.
Bangladesh resumed their innings on 107/3 and despite a valiant knock of 107* by Mominul Haque, the visitors failed to take advantage of a batting-friendly wicket. Bangladesh was bundled out for 233 runs with Jasprit Bumrah taking 3 wickets and R Ashwin, Akash Deep, and Mohammed Siraj taking two each.
Ravindra Jadeja picked the final Bangladeshi wicket to fall and completed his 300 wickets in Test cricket.
In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma went after the Bangladeshi bowling. India completed their 50 runs in just 3 overs and brought up their 100 in 10.1 overs, both world records.
Rohit Sharma fell for 23 runs, while Jaiswal made 72 in 51 balls. Shubman Gill scored 39 in 36 balls, and the rest of the Indian batting unit went after the Bangladeshi bowlers to force a result in this Test with WTC points on the line.
Virat Kohli also batted in the same way according to the plan but was involved in a mixup with Rishabh Pant and was about to be run out by Khaled Ahmed.
The incident happened on the 1st ball of the 19th over. Virat Kohli inside-edged a slower ball from Khaled on his pads and set off for a run with Rishabh Pant responding. But the ball had tickled towards the off side, very near to the pitch and Pant got cold feet and he sent Kohli back.
But Kohli being mid-pitch had no chance to get back as Ahmed picked the ball in his follow through and instead of breaking the stumps with the ball, he tried to throw the ball at the stumps.
Khaled missed the stumps at point-blank range and Kohli reached back in time. Rishabh Pant then apologized to Kohli and hugged him.

However, not only was the breath taken away from Kohli and Pant due to the mix-up and then near save, India captain Rohit Sharma couldn’t help by reacting to the folly of the two batters.
