India registered a 280-run win over Bangladesh in the first two Tests played in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram stadium. India posted 376 runs in the first innings after being asked to bat with R Ashwin scoring a solid century and Ravindra Jadeja starring with 86 runs.

In response, Bangladesh was bundled out for 149 runs giving India a lead of 227. India built on that lead with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant scoring centuries in the second innings, declaring on 287/4, setting Bangladesh a target of 515 runs to win the Test.

R Ashwin then starred with the ball, taking 6/88 as Bangladesh crumbled despite their positive intent in the chase.

India needed only one wicket to win the Chennai Test, with Ashwin bowling his 21st over of the innings. Hasan Mahmud attempted to cut off the short ball but was smacked halfway through the stroke by the rapid turn and bounce. Pant seized the ball and appealed, but the umpire was not convinced.

The wicketkeeper then turned to captain Rohit Sharma and requested a review. The skipper immediately disputed, claiming that it was off the elbow. However, the television replay revealed an entirely different story. The ball grazed Mahmud's glove, resulting in a spike on the UltraEdge.

After watching the replay on the big screen, Pant said, “Out that yaar… dekh to lo replay (Look at the replay, it was out).” Rohit Sharma smiled sheepishly.
