India skipper Rohit Sharma put on a show with the bat in the third T20I against Afghanistan at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Wednesday (January 17).

Rohit came into the third T20I on the back of successive ducks in the first two games. While the right-handed opener got run out for a two-ball duck in the series opener in Mohali, he was cleaned up by Fazalhaq Farooqi for a golden duck in the second match.

The Indian captain was determined to do well in the series finale and he rose to the occasion when the hosts were reeling at 22/4 after 4.3 overs.

Rohit resurrected the Indian innings with young Rinku Singh and reached his half-century off 41 balls. However, he went berserk after completing the milestone and started dealing with boundaries.

Such was his carnage that it took him 22 more deliveries to score the next 50 runs. As a result, Rohit became the first batter to get to five T20I tons. He reached the three-figure mark with a boundary off Azmatullah Omarzai in the penultimate over.

In the final over, Rohit Sharma smashed Karim Janat for one boundary and three successive sixes to finish with 121 not out off 69 balls, including 11 fours and 8 sixes.

Rinku Singh also played the role of second fiddle to perfection, scoring 69 off 36 balls (2 fours and 6 sixes). Thanks to their fireworks, India piled up a mammoth 212/4 on the board.

For his record-breaking knock, Rohit Sharma received rich praise from the Indian cricket fraternity on social media platform X.
