The incident took place during the final over of India's innings on Day 1 of Delhi Test.
After Australia’s first innings folded for 263, Rohit (13*) and Rahul (4*) played out 9 overs, making sure that the hosts finish the opening day on top with the score of 21/0, trailing the visitors by 242 runs.
However, there was one nervous moment in the Indian innings when Rohit was given out by the on-field umpire.
During the last over of the day, Rohit tried to fend a tossed up delivery from Nathan Lyon on the leg side but it took an inside edge of his bat and Marnus Labuschagne took a low diving catch at forward short leg.
After the Aussie players made a huge appeal, umpire Michael Gough raised his finger. However, the Indian captain was so confident that he took no time to review the decision.
Rohit asked for the DRS in frustration as he powerfully tapped the bat with his hand. Later, the replays confirmed that there was no bat involved and the ball hit on the pads.
