Rohit Sharma scored 120 in India's first innings of the Nagpur Test.
The Indian captain was unbeaten on 56 at the close of play on Day 1 and he continued his brilliance on the second day as well.
On a track where Australia’s innings folded for a paltry 177 and no visiting batter managed to hit a half-century, Rohit produced a batting exhibition against the spinners.
While the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals, Sharma held the one end firmly and brought up his maiden Test ton as captain in the post-lunch session. He reached the milestone with a boundary off Todd Murphy in the 63rd over.
Rohit was eventually dismissed by his Australian counterpart Pat Cummins for 120. His 212-ball knock was studded with 15 fours and 2 sixes.
After the second day’s play, Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh shared a hilarious message for him on Instagram status.
She posted Rohit’s century celebration picture with the caption: “I love you @rohitsharma45 but send replacement fingers please.”
Thanks to Rohit’s ninth Test century, India ended Day 2 on 321/7, leading Australia by 144 runs in the first-innings with Ravindra Jadeja (66*) and Akshar Patel (52*) unbeaten in the middle.
