Rohit missed the opening Test in Chattogram with a thumb injury.
Rohit, who missed the opening Test in Chattogram with a thumb injury, will not travel to Dhaka for the second Test, Cricbuzz reported on Monday (December 19).
In his absence, vice-captain KL Rahul will continue to lead the visiting team in the second and final Test of the series.
According to the report, Rohit, who took a blow on his thumb while fielding in the second ODI against Bangladesh on December 7, has not fully recovered.
The Indian captain is still suffering from a little bit of stiffness and considering India’s upcoming fixtures, the BCCI, the selectors and the team management have decided not to take any risk at this point.
As per the report, Rohit will be able to bat in the second Test but there is a risk involved while fielding. Therefore, the medical team and the team management felt that the injury could become severe if he takes another blow on that thumb.
It is likely that Rohit Sharma will return to lead the side in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home, starting January 3.
Having won the first Test by 188 runs, the KL Rahul-led Indian side has taken an unbeatable 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
