With the willow in his hand, India opener Rohit Sharma is a destructive force, especially in white-ball cricket. He is the only batsman in the world to smash three ODI double tons and four T20I centuries.

After becoming Test opener in 2019, Rohit has also impressed one and all with his exploits in the longest format of the game.

Such is his impact with the bat that Rohit’s other skills such as off-spin and fielding often go unnoticed.

On Friday (January 15), fans got a glimpse of Rohit’s athletic fielding as he plucked an outstanding catch to dismiss Australia opener David Warner on Day 1 of the Brisbane Test.

In the very first over of Australia’s innings, Mohammed Siraj bowled a length delivery that moved off the wicket and took the edge of Warner's bat. Rohit, who was stationed at second slip, dived full stretch to his right to pull off a stunning low catch.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also took to Twitter and hailed the vice-captain’s effort.

"Siraj strikes! #TeamIndia waste no time as @ImRo45 takes a stunning low catch in the slips. Siraj gets the wicket in just his first over! Warner is back in the hut for 1. #AUSvIND," the BCCI tweeted.

Team India made four changes in their playing XI with injuries to Ravindra Jadeja, Hanuma Vihari, Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin.

While T Natarajan and Washington Sundar received maiden Test caps, Shardul Thakur and Mayank Agarwal were also included in the line-up for the fourth Test.
