Team India started the ODI series against Zimbabwe on a very high note. The visitors thumped the hosts by 10 wickets to take a lead of 1-0 in the three-match series.
It was the first win for KL Rahul as the skipper of the national team and it also marked his comeback after a prolonged injury. Although he didn’t get a chance to bat he won the hearts of many with his leadership skills and his gesture before the national anthem was played.
As the teams were lined up for the anthem, Rahul, who had a chewing gum in his mouth, pulled it out as a mark of respect. The video of the incident went viral on the internet and his action was lauded by many.

Coming to the match, after India won the toss and opted to bowl first, Deepak Chahar, also making his comeback after injury, troubled the Zimbabwe batters with his swing and picked up three wickets with the new ball. He was complimented well by Akshar Patel and Prasidh Krishna who also took 3 wickets each to help their side bundle out the hosts for just 189 runs.
With the bat Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan (81*) and Shubman Gill (82*) then stole the show with the bat and stitched an unbeaten 192 runs partnership to take their team home and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
