ZIM v IND 2022: Washington Sundar ruled out of Zimbabwe tour due to injury; BCCI names replacement

The first ODI between the two sides will begin on August 18, 2022 in Harare.

Shahbaz Ahmed for RCB | BCCI-IPLThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on August 16, 2022, announced that all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe for three ODI matches after suffering a shoulder injury while playing for Lancashire in England.

The BCCI in a statement on their website posted that Sundar had hurt his shoulder while playing a County game in England. He has been ruled out of the Zimbabwe tour. And also the All-India Senior Selection Committee named Bengal all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed as the replacement for the Zimbabwe tour.

Shahbaz Ahmed has not only impressed in domestic cricket, but also in the IPL, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, especially with both the bat and ball in the last two seasons of IPL.

India will play the first ODI against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on August 18, 2022.
