WPL 2024: WATCH - Fans throng Bengaluru streets to rejoice RCB's maiden WPL title win

RCB fans were delighted after the franchise ended its 16-year-long trophy drought.

RCB clinched their maiden WPL title | GettyRoyal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday (March 17) scripted history by lifting their maiden Women's Premier League (WPL) trophy with a win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

In the all-important final, RCB bundled out the Capitals for a paltry 113 in 18.3 overs after being asked to bowl first. The spin troika of Sophie Molineux (3/20), Shreyanka Patil (4/12) and Asha Sobhana (2/14) ran through the Delhi batting line-up, sharing nine wickets among them.

In reply, skipper Smriti Mandhana (31) added 49 runs opening wicket with Sophie Devine (32). After their dismissals, Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh stepped up and remained unbeaten on 35 and 17 to take the side over the line with three deliveries to spare.

After RCB's historic triumph, a large number of jubilant supporters took to Bengaluru streets to rejoice the glory moment together.

Several videos emerged on social media where fans went bonkers and relished the title win, which the city has been waiting for since the inception of IPL in 2018 as the men's team is yet to open its account.
