WATCH - Shah Rukh Khan meets players from Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals ahead of WPL 2024 opener

The WPL 2024 season will kick off from Friday, February 23.

The second edition of Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) will kick-start from Friday, February 23 with the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and last year's runners-up Delhi Capitals (DC) going up against each other at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The first half of the season will be hosted by Bengaluru before the teams move to Delhi for the second half, including the Eliminato and Final. In all  22 matches will be played with the five teams Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, UP Warriorz, and Gujarat Giants competing for the prestigious title.

Ahead of the season opener on Friday, there will be a glittering opening ceremony with Bollywood superstars Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff, Sidharth Malhotra, Kartik Aaryan, Shahid Kapoor and 'King Khan' Shah Rukh Khan performing to some of their chartbusters.

Shah Rukh Khan, who was rehearsing to his songs on Thursday at the venue, took time out to meet the captains Harmanpreet Kaur and Meg Lanning, as well as other players from both teams.

He also shared a warm hug with DC director, Sourav Ganguly, who once played for and led Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL franchise co-owned by the 58-year-old actor.

The actor also performed his trademark pose with the DC skipper Meg Lanning, who imitated it to perfection with rest of the team members egging her on.
