IPL trophy | BCCIThe IPL 2024 auction might be held in Dubai and reportedly the BCCI has narrowed down the dates for the event as well. BCCI is looking to hold the auction in a window between December 15 and 19.

Although no formal notification has been sent to the franchises, the grapevine is abuzz with talk of the IPL auction being staged in Dubai, with the most likely dates being December 18 or 19, despite those being weekdays.

The IPL 2023 auction was eventually held in Kochi, but the BCCI had originally considered holding it in Istanbul. The Dubai idea may only be preliminary given the previous year's precedence, but all IPL franchises have been notified that the Gulf city is being considered as the auction destination.

Currently, the trading window is open, but there have been no reports of player exchange among the IPL franchises so far. It's unclear if big transfers will happen because this is the last of the three-year window, although some highly compensated players who didn't contribute much in the previous IPL season might be let go.

Meanwhile, the report also suggested that the BCCI might hold the WPL 2024 auction on December 9. While the venue for the WPL auction has not been finalized, it is likely to be in India.

As of now, the location and dates of the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction have not yet been disclosed to the owners by the BCCI. There is a suggestion that the league be held in February of this year. The Indian women's squad has overseas obligations through mid-January.

Teams have not gotten confirmation on whether the WPL will be held in a single city, as it did last year when the entire league was staged in Mumbai, or if it will be conducted in multiple cities this time around.
