Smriti Mandhana led the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCBW) to their second Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026) win, as they defeated Delhi Capitals Women (DCW) by 6 wickets in the final that was played in Baroda on February 5.
Delhi Capitals posted 203/4 after being asked to bat first, thanks to 57 by captain Jemimah Rodrigues, 44 by Laura Wolvaardt, 37 by Lizelle Lee, and a quick 35* by Chinelle Henry. In response, Georgia Voll hammered 79 in 54 balls, and captain Smriti Mandhana smashed 87 in 41 balls as RCB chased down the total with 6 wickets in hand.
Mandhana, during the post-match presentation, summed up a historic night by thanking the RCB fans for their amazing support. She also pointed out RCB’s golden run of winning two WPL titles and the IPL title in the last three years, saying that the franchise has been on an “amazing” run of success.
“Very pleased. RCB fans are the best in the world; wherever we play, we get a lot of support. Three titles in three years for the franchise—it is amazing. This one’s for you guys… Ee sala cup namdu 2!” Mandhana said during the post-match presentation.
“We definitely thought it was a good surface to bat on. Of course, 200-plus in a final is a good score, but the way we bowled in the last four overs helped,” she said.
Mandhana credited Lauren Bell’s economical spell of 19 runs in 4 overs and Georgia Voll’s aggressive intent at the top for setting the tone in the chase.
“Volly led the way… I had a feeling 10–15 days back that she would play a match-winning knock in the final. She has been working extremely hard, and I’m happy it paid off,” she added.
“Right from the auction, everyone knew what was expected—the batting order, the phases to bowl. That makes our job easier,” she said, praising head coach Malolan Rangarajan and the RCBW management.
She highlighted the team’s collective work ethic as the driving force behind their belief.
“When girls are putting in hard yards in the gym and training, you feel you can chase any score,” she noted.
