
The fourth edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2026) began with a stunning opening ceremony on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The evening was the ideal combination of high-energy entertainment and sporting passion, laying the groundwork for the season opening between defending champions Mumbai Indians Women (MIW) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCBW).
The mood was electrifying as supporters gathered to celebrate the tremendous rise of women's cricket in India, with the event commencing in Navi Mumbai and then traveling to Vadodara.
Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez dazzled the crowd with a high-energy dance performance on some of her hit songs like "Laal Pari", "Yaar Na Miley", "Besos".
She was followed by rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, who brought the stadium to its feet with a string of his biggest hits, including "Blue Eyes," "Lungi Dance," and "Party All Night."
Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, Miss Universe 2021, joined the performers on stage for the grand finale, adding to the glamour quotient.
RCB Women captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and chose to bowl first against Harmanpreet Kaur’s MI Women.
