WI v IND 2023: WATCH – Mohammed Siraj demolishes West Indies with a stunning five-wicket haul on Day 4 in Trinidad

Thanks to Siraj's 5-fer, India bundled out the hosts for 255 in the first innings.

Mohammed Siraj | GettyMohammed Siraj demolished the West Indies batting line-up with a sensational spell of fast bowling on Day 4 of the second Test at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain.

In reply to India’s first innings total of 438, West Indies were 229/5 at the close of play on Day 3. However, Siraj claimed four wickets in no time to bundle out the hosts for 255 on the penultimate day.

West Indies lost their first wicket on Day 4 courtesy of Mukesh Kumar, who dismissed Alick Athanaze before Siraj wreaked havoc to get rid of Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel within his four overs.

Earlier in the Caribbean innings, Siraj had dismissed wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva. As a result, the right-arm quick returned with his second five-wicket haul (5/60) in Test cricket.

Thanks to Siraj’s five-wicket haul, the visitors took a sizeable first-innings lead of 183 runs. In their innings, India’s opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out all guns blazing and took the West Indies attack to the cleaners.

At the time of writing this article, Rohit and Jaiswal have added 96 runs in just 11 overs, stretching India’s lead to 279 runs.
