The ongoing first Test match between West Indies and India saw few records being created on the second day as the visitors continued to dominate proceedings in Dominica.

Resuming at 80/0 after bowling out the hosts for 150 on the opening day, debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma concentrated on rotating strike instead of trying to play aggressive shots on a pitch not too conducive to shot-making with the odd ball turning and bouncing.

India added 66 runs in the opening session of the second day with both batters in their sixties. After the lunch break, Jaiswal picked up the scoring rate while Rohit continued to play carefully.

The duo became the first Indian opening pair to wipe out the opposition's first innings total and take the team into the lead lead, and then also broke the record for the highest opening partnership for India against West Indies.

Jaiswal eventually brought up his maiden Test hundred in his very first innings at the highest level for the country, proving to everyone why he averages 80 in first-class cricket apart from his white-ball exploits in both domestic and IPL cricket.

While Jaiswal continued to bat on in the same fashion and be 116* at Tea, Rohit fell for a well compiled 103, his 10th hundred in Tests. Shubman Gill, batting at 3, waited a long time for his turn but could only score 6 as India were 245/2 at the break, leading by 95 runs.

The 21-year-old batted brilliantly and received a lot of praise from the cricketing fraternity as he became only the 17th Indian batter to score a hundred on Test debut. Here are the tweets:
