WI v IND 2023: Ashwin reveals Rahul Dravid had a hour-long Ashes debate with bartender about Bairstow dismissal

India is touring West Indies for 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is.

Ashwin and Dravid | GettyR Ashwin revealed that India coach Rahul Dravid had a long discussion with a bartender when the team was relaxing on the beaches of the Caribbean as they are on a tour of the West Indies.

The tour features two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is starting with the first Test in Dominica on July 12, 2023.

Sharing an interesting story on his YouTube channel, R Ashwin spoke about how the Jonny Bairstow stumping incident in the ongoing Ashes 2023 series came up in the Indian camp as well, particularly for coach Rahul Dravid.

The other day, we were sitting on a beach, and Rahul bhai bought me a lemon juice. He had a one-hour discussion with the bartender and waiter on whether Jonny Bairstow was out or not. They spoke about rules, the spirit of cricket, and everything in their discussion. They are all so passionate. Then suddenly an old man came and declared, "He Bairstow maan, he out maan!”,” said Ashwin.

Ashwin has been central to discussions regarding the spirit of cricket, and had a tongue-in-cheek response when asked about the wicket on Twitter, stating he would be very disappointed if he allowed himself to get out in that manner.

The off-spinner will look to do well in West Indies with both the bat and the ball, as four of his five Test centuries are against West Indies, including both of his overseas tons.
