After his team’s seven-wicket victory over West Indies in the third T20I, India skipper Rohit Sharma offered an update on his injury that he sustained during the match.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Rohit said his body is ok after being forced to retire hurt during India’s innings due to back spasm. He also lauded the Indian batters for their stunning display during the run chase in St Kitts on Tuesday (August 2).

Chasing 165 to win, the visitors rode on Suryakumar Yadav’s swashbuckling 44-ball 76 to get over the line with an over to spare. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant also played a handy knock of 26-ball 33*.
"My body is ok, we have a few days in between so hopefully it should be ok," Rohit said.
Earlier, the hosts posted 164/5 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of opener Kyle Mayers’ 50-ball 73. Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell also chipped in with handy cameos.
Rohit was pleased with the performance of Indian bowlers during the middle overs.
"How we bowled in the middle overs. That was crucial. They were about to get a quick partnership. We used the condition and our variations really well," he said.
The Indian captain then went on to praise his batters for their clinical performance, saying it felt like they weren't taking any risks.
"And then how we chased. It was quite clinical. When you watch it from the outside you felt there wasn't much risk taken. It is very important that if you get a start in this format, you should convert it. It does well for the team,” he stated.
“The 30s and 40s look good, but when you get past 70-80 and get a hundred as well then you're scoring those runs for the team. Good partnership with Iyer. When you are chasing a target like that anything can happen. It was not an easy target and the pitch had something for the bowlers. It was important for us to pick the right shots off the right balls," Rohit concluded.
With this victory, Team India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series. The penultimate game will be played in Florida on August 6.
