West Indies fast bowler Obed McCoy, on Monday (August 1), wreaked havoc on India's batting line-up to finish with the best figures as a West Indian in T20I cricket and helped the hosts to make a comeback in the ongoing five-match T20I series.

McCoy returned with his career-best figures of 6/17 to help West Indies beat Team India by five wickets in the second T20I to level the five-match T20I series on Monday in St. Kitts.

The pacer was adjudged Player of the Match for his remarkable performance with the ball in hand against India.

The left-arm pacer dedicated his six-wicket haul to his sick mother and said that he is trying to be a better cricketer with each opportunity at the highest level.

Obed McCoy said at the post-match presentation ceremony: “I want to thank God. I'm doing this for my mom, she is home sick. This is motivating me to be a better player. Thankful for it.”

Speaking about his ability to bowl in the powerplay, the pacer said: “It gives me a lot of challenge and experience. Helps groom me as a player. It put a lot of pressure on their batters. I always look for wickets in the powerplay because that stops batsmen from scoring runs in the powerplay.”

He concluded, “I went in with a clear mind in the second match, but and was overthinking in the first game.”
