After completing a 3-0 series sweep over the West Indies in their own backyard, Team India maintained their third position in the latest men's ODI Team Rankings.
Despite the absence of several first-choice players, the Indian team, led by Shikhar Dhawan, dominated the hosts in the 50-over series. While the first two ODIs were nail-biters, the visitors registered an emphatic 119-run victory (DLS method) in the third and final match.
This series victory boosted India’s rating to a total of 110. They are currently four rating points clear of arch-rivals Pakistan (106), who are holding the fourth spot.
India started the year miserably, suffering a 3-0 ODI series whitewash in South Africa. However, the Men in Blue bounced back and now have won eight of their last nine ODI matches.
New Zealand occupy the top spot in the ODI team rankings with a rating of 128, while England (119) retained their second place despite the recent series loss to India and drawn series against South Africa.
Pakistan will get their chance to make some ground on India and other countries sitting above them on the rankings, with a three-ODI series against the Dutch in the Netherlands next month.
Team India also have a three-match ODI tour of Zimbabwe scheduled at a similar time.
