Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria praised the young Indian side for winning the series against West Indies. He was impressed with the way youngsters took responsibility in the absence of big guns.

The ODI series between West Indies and India has been host to an enthralling contest between bat and ball. With both the matches going down the wire, the excitement for the last game has increased, even though it will be a dead rubber.

Both the teams have left no stone unturned but it has been the Shikhar Dhawan-led side, who have held their nerves better, and clinched the first two games to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series.

The visitors have displayed magnificent performance with both bat and ball and sealed two nail-biters. After winning the first game by 3 runs while defending 308 runs, they chased the target of over 310 runs to win the second match by 2 wickets.

Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria lauded Indian youngsters for taking responsibility and winning the match for their side. He said that the lot that is coming into Indian cricket are ‘match-winners’.

"The youngsters in the Indian team like Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson took responsibility after skipper Shikhar Dhawan got out (in the second ODI). This is a big thing. The lot that is coming into Indian cricket are serious match-winners - be it bowlers, all-rounders or finishers. They put an extra topping on the flavor,"  Danish Kaneria said.

Kaneria said that in the absence of big players, youngsters showed great skills in overseas conditions. He also lauded Dhawan for his captaincy and said that the way he rotated his bowlers was admirable.

"In absence of big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah among many others, these boys have won overseas. Be it an A, B or C team, when you go overseas, conditions are against you. Hats off to the young team. Shikhar Dhawan’s captaincy has been admirable. He has rotated the bowlers very well," he said.

India would be looking to win the last match of the series and complete the whitewash on Wednesday (27th July).
