Team India displayed a top effort with both bat and ball to clinch the first ODI against West Indies in Trinidad. The visitors sealed the match by 3 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

The main architect behind India’s win was skipper Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw batted brilliantly to help his side post a good total on the board. He made 97 runs which helped his side score 308 runs.

Not only did he entertain fans with his batting, but his on-field antics also gave joy to fans and his teammates standing around. His hilarious gesture during the second innings of the match left his colleagues in splits.

It was during the 37th over of the innings when West Indies batter Brandon Kings played a backfoot punch off Yuzvendra Chahal. The ball went to Dhawan, who was standing at the covers, and he made an excellent diving effort to save runs for his team.

However, as he was about to stand, he attempted push-ups, which drew laughter from his teammates and he himself was also seen smiling. Commentators also took note of his actions and were heard laughing.

Here’s the video:

Coming to the match, after being asked to bat first, Indian openers Dhawan (97) and Shubman Gill (64) took their team off the flier before Shreyas Iyer (54) chipped in with a half-century. A vital contribution from Deepak Hooda (27) and Akshar Patel (21) in the end helped India post a total of 308 runs.

While defending the target, they came under pressure on various instances but the likes of Mohammed Siraj (2/57), Yuzvendra Chahal (2/58), and Shardul Thakur (2/54) held their nerves well to guide their team to victory.
