The Shikhar Dhawan-led side had a great outing on the field as their clinical performance with both bat and ball helped them win the game by 3 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

On account of half-centuries by Dhawan (97), Shubman Gill (64) and Shreyas Iyer (54), India, who were asked to bat first, posted a good total of 308 runs on the board.

While defending the target, they were off to a good start as Mohammed Siraj removed Shai Hope for just 7 runs. But after that Kyle Mayers (75) and Shamarh Brooks (46) stitched a 117-run partnership to put India under tremendous pressure.

They scored runs easily against Indian bowlers and at one moment it seemed that will take their team home. But Shardul Thakur brought India back in the game with the wicket of Brooks in 24th over for 46 runs.

Thakur bowled a slower back-of-the-length delivery, to which Brooks attempted a pull shot but failed to connect properly, and couldn't find the distance as he was caught by Iyer at a deep square leg.

What caught the attention of many was Iyer’s celebration after he took the catch. The Indian batter broke into a unique dancing celebration as he turned towards the stands and was seen smiling at someone.

After a sensational effort in the first ODI, India will be looking to seal the series when they will take on West Indies in the second game on Sunday (24th July).
