BBL 11: WATCH – Haris Rauf sanitizes hands, wears a mask in unique COVID-safe celebration

After dismissing Perth Scorchers batter Kurtis Patterson, Rauf came up with a celebration spreading awareness about COVID safety. The Melbourne Stars bowler gestured to sanitize his hands and put on a mask as soon as the umpire raised his finger.

The incident took place in the third over of the game when Rauf bowled a delivery, angling away outside off stump. Patterson attempted a cover drive but ended up nicking the ball to wicketkeeper Joe Clarke, leading to a unique celebration from the fast bowler.

With the new COVID variant called “Omicron” creating chaos around the world, Haris Rauf’s celebration certainly sent out a loud and clear message to all.

Haris Rauf returned with the figures of 2 for 38 in his four overs as Perth Scorchers slammed 117 runs off the last 10 overs to pile up a massive 196/3 on the board.

In reply, Melbourne Stars managed only 149/9 in 20 overs to lose the match by a big margin of 47 runs.
