Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf is known for his quirky celebrations after claiming a wicket and he grabbed the headlines with another unique celebration during a Big Bash League (BBL) match on Tuesday (January 11).
After dismissing Perth Scorchers batter Kurtis Patterson, Rauf came up with a celebration spreading awareness about COVID safety. The Melbourne Stars bowler gestured to sanitize his hands and put on a mask as soon as the umpire raised his finger.
The incident took place in the third over of the game when Rauf bowled a delivery, angling away outside off stump. Patterson attempted a cover drive but ended up nicking the ball to wicketkeeper Joe Clarke, leading to a unique celebration from the fast bowler.
With the new COVID variant called “Omicron” creating chaos around the world, Haris Rauf’s celebration certainly sent out a loud and clear message to all.
