England beat Australia by 24 runs in the second ODI match at Old Trafford in Manchester last night and leveled the series 1-1 with one match to go.

Earlier England won the toss and decided to bat first but their openers couldn't give a good start as Bairstow and Roy got out cheaply. Joe Root and captain Morgan rebuilt the innings and took the score to 90 runs but both the batsmen couldn't convert their starts and later Jos Buttler and Sam Billings too couldn't do anything.

At 149/8 England was reeling but the late burst from Tom Curran and Adil Rashid helped England to post a respectable total of 231/9 on board. For Australia, Adam Zampa took 3 wickets.

In reply, Australia also had a poor start as they lost David Warner and Marcus Stoinis cheaply off Archer bowling. Captain Aaron Finch and Marnus Labuschange took the charge and their 107 runs partnership for the third wicket put England on the back foot. Finch also brought up his fifty but the second spell from Chris Woakes changed the game in a short time as he dismissed Labuschange, Finch, and Maxwell and reduced Australia to 147/6.

Lower order batsmen tried to put up some fight but their efforts weren't sufficient and eventually, Australia bowled out for 207 runs and lost the match by 24 runs. For England Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes, and Sam Curran took 3 wickets each.
