Indian captain Virat Kohli after his brilliant performance in the first Test against England leapfrogged Steve Smith to become the number one batsman in the world. He is the seventh Indian batsman and first since Sachin Tendulkar in June 2011 to achieve this feat.
He was already at the top of the ICC ODI batsmen rankings and now became the number one in Tests as well. Kohli also became the tenth player ever to top the both ICC Test and ODI rankings at the same time.
