
Several Indian cricketers from Punjab shared messages on social media as the state has been ravaged by floods due to heavy rains. Cricketers like Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Shubman Gill, and others took to social media to share heartfelt messages as at least 29 lives have been lost to the “worst floods in recent history” in Punjab.
According to estimates, the floods in Punjab have caused thousands of people to be displaced and at least 29 people to die. In August 2025, Punjab received 253.7 mm of rain, which is 74% more than usual and the most in 25 years. On Monday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann warned that the situation would get worse during the coming week.
According to official figures, more than 1,300 villages in Punjab are under water, and 6,582 people have been relocated to 122 rescue shelters. Among the districts most affected are Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, and Amritsar.
After he returned from the SCO meeting in China, Indian PM Narendra Modi spoke to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and assured him of all support and help from the center.
“Immediately after landing in Delhi, Prime Minister Modi called up Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to discuss the situation due to heavy rains and flooding in Punjab. He has assured him of all help and support to the state,” a government source was quoted as saying by ANI.
Several Indian cricketers have shown support for victims of the flood and condoled the deaths of many on social media.
