Pakistan Champions registered a thumping 10-wicket victory over Australian Champions in Match 14 of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 in Leicester on Tuesday (July 29).
Riding on Saeed Ajmal’s sensational spell of 6/16, Pakistan Champions bundled out Australia for a paltry 74 in 11.5 overs and then chased down the target with 73 deliveries to spare.
Imad Wasim offered crucial support with 2/11, and not a single Australian batter barring Ben Dunk and Callum Ferguson reached double figures.
While it was a lop-sided affair, the match ended in farce. John Hastings, brought on late, delivered an over that will be remembered for a long time.
The over began with five wides outside Sohaib Maqsood’s off-stump. After a couple of legitimate balls and another no-ball, Hastings changed his angle to left-handed Sharjeel Khan, only to bowl three more wides down leg. A switch in bowling ends did little to help, as the erratic line continued.
While the over didn't end even after 18 deliveries, the match did. Brett Lee, the captain of Australia Champions, was left disappointed as he removed his hat after the crushing defeat.
