Punjab Kings captain and India batter Shreyas Iyer and his mother were seen playing cricket in their hotel room in a viral video. The video also showed his mother’s celebration when she clean bowled her son.
Iyer's IPL team, Punjab Kings, posted a video of the captain of PBKS in the living room, where he was receiving deliveries from his mother. One of the deliveries even broke through his defense.
The video quickly cut to his mother shouting "out" in joy as she celebrated. Shreyas and his parents have a fairly easy relationship, and they take great pleasure in telling guests about the tricks their kids pull on them.
“Only time SARPANCH won’t mind getting bowled!,” Punjab Kings posted on X, sharing the video.
In the meantime, Iyer's absence from India's large 18-man squad, which was revealed in May, prompted further inquiries about the 30-year-old's future in international red-ball cricket.
Iyer had his greatest season as a batsman, hitting 604 runs at an average of 50+ and a remarkable strike rate of 175.07 with 39 sixes, which helped Punjab Kings finish second in the IPL.
Iyer amassed 699 runs with two hundreds and three fifties in nine First Class games, including a victory in the Irani Cup. Despite Iyer's strong domestic performance, the chairman of the selectors, Ajit Agarkar, had concluded that there was now no place for him in the overall scheme of things.
