Teenager opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi showed his aggressive streak from the IPL 2025 as he helped India U19 defeat England U19 in the first youth ODI on June 7. This match was played at the County Ground, Hove. Notably he donned no.18 on his jersey, same as legend Virat Kohli.

England U19 captain Thomas Rew won the toss and batted first. Rocky Flintoff made 56 and Isaac Mohammed made 42 as England U19 made 174 runs in 42.2 overs. For IND U19, Kanish Chouhan took 3 wickets, while three other bowlers took 2 wickets each.

In response, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hammered 48 in 19 balls with 3 fours and 5 huge sixes, adding 71 runs for the opening wicket with captain Ayush Mhatre, who made 21 runs. Abhigyan Kundu made 45* to take India U19 to a 6-wicket win in 24 overs.

During his brief but significant stint at the wicket during India's first youth ODI encounter against England in Hove, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was at his explosive best.

He dominated the English bowlers throughout the park while assuming the role of the aggressor. Sooryavanshi, wearing the number 18 shirt that has long belonged to Virat Kohli in senior white-ball cricket, blasted two consecutive sixes against Jack Home.

Sooryavanshi's early damage had essentially guaranteed that India would easily surpass the goal, even though his wicket caused a mini-collapse.
