Leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi has astonished everyone by taking five wickets in a row following the Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) exciting IPL 2025 season. A video of the wrist-spinner deceiving hitters at will during what appeared to be a local T20 competition went viral on social media.
During his time with the Super Giants, Rathi had garnered attention on several occasions with his combative "notebook celebration," for which he was often fined. The Delhi-born cricketer also demonstrated his ability to handle the ball under duress at the same time, taking 14 wickets at 30.64 in 13 games.
In a video shared by the official X handle of LSG and team owner Sanjiv Goenka, Rathi is seen achieving a rare feat — picking up five wickets in five balls.
Throughout the game, Rathi took seven wickets in all, including an incredible five-wicket run. Although the league's name isn't stated, Goenka's article attests that it took place during a nearby T20 match.
With 113 runs needed from 36 deliveries, the batting side is already having problems in the video. Rathi further tightens the screws by dismantling the batting order with his cunning googlies; four batsmen were bowled and the fifth was trapped LBW.
"Digvesh Rathi. 5 stars," LSG's X handle wrote while posting the clip.
