South Africa defeated Australia in the final of the WTC 2025 that was held at the Lord’s ground on June 14, and ex-Proteas pacer Dale Steyn couldn’t stop his tears from flowing. This was only the second ICC trophy that South Africa won after the 1998 Knockout Trophy (now known as the Champions Trophy).

After those winning runs, Dale Steyn, who was working as a media representative for Star Sports, was filled with emotion and almost lost his words as he saw his nation finally overcome that obstacle.

Steyn can be seen fighting to speak and stifling tears in a video posted by Star Sports. He then goes silent for a long time as the situation finally hits him.

“What do you do, what do you say? It’s incredible, I’m sitting at home, I’ve got my cap here, I’m extremely proud. I mean, what do you do? I’ll take my son for a walk and life will carry on,” said Steyn, showing his South Africa Test cap.

Steyn then went quiet and was seen wiping tears with tissues. It is evident how poignant a moment this is in South African cricket history.
